It’s taken Audrey Regan years to establish herself as a wedding dress designer, and to date she’s been roped into creating dresses for nine of her girlfriends. Request #10 follows her vow to “Just say no!” and comes from her very best friend. She can hardly turn Carly down!
Audrey arrives in Atlanta early to perform all of her maid-of-honor duties along with final fittings for a one-of-a-kind dress. But Carly’s wedding is nothing short of an event, complete with Prince Charming, and the festivities make Audrey question whether there’s a prince of her own anywhere in her future.
Enter the groom’s brother and best man. Shaggy-haired, tattooed bad boy J.R. Hunt couldn’t be any more different from Prince Charming if he rode in on a Harley Davidson. Oh, wait. He actually did ride in on a Harley!
With a nod to Casablanca, everybody comes to Tanglewood. At least, it seems that way in Bricker’s Another Emma Rae Creation series. Always the Designer is book three and introduces us to new characters as well as familiar faces from the first two books. If not for passing mentions of customers, I would wonder how the hotel made any money! The reality is that Tanglewood is simply the facilitator in bringing this eclectic group together. Carly and J R were introduced to readers in the previous book, whereas Audrey and her assistant – Kat – are new. Each member of the group has their ups and downs, and the issues range from military deployment to stray dogs to aunts with dementia. In this book, Audrey is facing a losing battle regarding her wedding dress design business and has to deal with fussy might-be clients, underhanded rivals, and a client who loves Audrey’s designs and wants more of a role in the designer’s professional future.
The Another Emma Rae Creation books are not stand-alone reads. Throughout this title, there are frequent mentions of how one of the group – Russell – came to know everyone. The story isn’t fully recounted so if you don’t know that backstory you might be lost. I can, however, recommend the three books and I eagerly await the final title which answers a question from the original book; namely, when will Emma Rae get married?
